Patricia Windom Sachon OBITUARY

Patricia Windom Sachon, beloved wife, mom, grandma, sister, and friend, died Thursday July 25, 2024 at home in Norfolk with her family by her side.

Pat was a graduate of John Yeates High School in Suffolk. She received a B.S. from Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, and a master’s in physical therapy from Emory University in Atlanta. She was proud of her career as physical therapist: heading a clinic in Boston, being a founding faculty member of the physical therapy program at Old Dominion University, and leading the PT department for Norfolk Public Schools.

After retiring in 2009, she loved the time she had to spend with her friends and family. One of her favorite mottos was “everyone is doing the best that they can,” and her best was extraordinary as she consistently showed up for her friends and family in times of joy and sorrow.

She enjoyed seeking perfection in her creative projects: elaborate paper greeting cards, invitations and programs for loved ones’ special events, and intricate scrapbooks, including a masterpiece two-volume memory book for her daughter’s wedding.

Pat loved the experience of traveling, forgoing museums and tourist spots for walking neighborhoods and exploring local grocery stores. She loved Ireland’s towns and seaside cliffs, and England, especially London’s theatre and remote Cornwall. She cherished the year she spent in New York City’s West Village taking care of her baby grandson.

Pat is survived by her husband Mike; children Alex, Logan (Matt), and Nick (Eva); grandsons Emerson and Freddy; brother John (Debbie); extended family Lauren, Jesse, Sara, Michaela, Gerhard, and her many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Annie Windom and her in-laws, Peter and Frances Sachon.
