Katherine JoAnne Branham OBITUARY

Katherine JoAnne Branham, went to be with her Lord Jesus, on July 27, 2024. She went peacefully at home surrounded by her children and Cyndi, her caregiver. She was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on July 17,1936. JoAnne was the daughter of the late John D. McFarland and Laura E. (Thompson) McFarland.

JoAnne, at a young age, moved to Norfolk, VA with her family. She graduated from the old Oscar Smith High School in 1954 and went to work as a Telephone Operator. In 1955, she met the love of her life, Joe, a young handsome man from Alabama in the US Navy, stationed in Norfolk. A year later, they were married on August 26,1956 at South Norfolk Baptist Church and had 65 wonderful years together. JoAnne started her family in 1958. Joe started Branham Electric Corp. in 1967 and she became his office support out of their home, as she was raising their 3 children. She was a long time active member of Deep Creek Baptist Church, the Ester Class and the Gideon’s International Auxiliary.

JoAnne was very talented with her seamstress work, artwork with flowers for weddings, parties, she loved birds and flowers which was reflected in her watercolors that she would draw and paint, was a member of the Elizabeth River Art Club, where she sold many of her amazing watercolors and her yard was always a work of art.

In addition to her parents, husband Joe C. Branham, sisters Ruth Cambell and Boney Park, predeceased her. Here to cherish her memories are her brother John D. McFarland, Jr. of Va Beach, children, Randy (Breena), Rick (Danna), Sheryl Fisher (Bob) all of Chesapeake, grandchildren Courtney Myers (Kevin), Tyler Branham, Ashley Greenquist (Jeffrey), Jordan Snyder (Jamie) and Laura Ray, great-grandchildren Emma, Hudson, Ava, Walker, Colton, Addie and Alex, Brother-In-Laws Kenneth Branham and Bill Hawkins of Remlap, Al, nephew Tim Park, Chesapeake.

Special thanks to her close friend and confident, Ann Fortner, her main caregiver, Cyndi Griner with the help of Emily Bass and Chesapeake Regional Hospice.

A service to celebrate her life will be held Friday, August 2, 2024 at 11:00 am at Deep Creek Baptist Church, 250 Mill Creek Parkway, Chesapeake. Burial will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake. Please visit www.grahamfuneralhome.com leave a condolence to the family.
