Norfolk voters will elect a mayor, two City Council members and three School Board members this November. Several candidates have met the requirements to run for office and filed before the June 18 deadline, according to the Norfolk Office of Elections.

Norfolk has a nonpartisan ward voting system for City Council and School Board, where the city is divided up into five wards and two larger superwards, and each ward or superward’s residents vote on a seat.

Three candidates, including incumbent Kenny Alexander, have qualified to run for mayor. Alexander, who has held the office since 2016, is being challenged by Tommy Leeman and Giovanni “Gio” Dolmo, according to the Norfolk Office of Elections.

For Norfolk City Council, two candidates have qualified to run for the Superward 6 seat being vacated by Andria McClellan. Jeremy McGee and Jeremy Mason have submitted paperwork to run, according to the election office.

In Superward 7, six candidates have qualified to run for the seat being vacated by Danica Royster: Carlos Clanton, Phillip Hawkins, James Graham, Christine Smith, Leon Judge and Rodney Jordan.

In the Norfolk School Board races, incumbent Nichelle Stone is running unopposed in a special election in Ward 5.

Superward 6 School Board candidates include Ken Paulson, Rebecca Danchise Topping and Sarah DiCalogero. Candidates Alfreda Thomas and Ronald White qualified for the Superward 7 race. Superward 6 incumbent Noelle Gabriel and Superward 7 incumbent Rodney Jordan are not seeking reelection.
