UPDATED:

Voters in Newport News will elect three City Council members and three School Board members this November.

Candidates had to file by the June 18 deadline to participate in the upcoming elections. Candidates run without party designation and the person with the most votes in each district wins regardless of how many people are running.

In the City Council’s North District, Marcellus Harris is running unopposed for re-election.

In the Central District seat being vacated by retiring council member Pat Woodbury, candidates Rob Coleman, Stephen Ferguson, Scott O. Cox, Justin Kennedy and Andrea Diggs are running.

In the council’s South District, incumbent Tina Vick is facing off against Clifton J. Atkins.

For School Board, the North seat is open because the incumbent, Marvin Harris, is not running for reelection. Candidates vying for the North District seat include William L. Beverley, Rasheena D. Harris and John B. Bloom.

The Central race is between incumbent Rebecca Aman and Christopher A. Worthington.

In the South District race, incumbent Maritsa Alger is running unopposed.
