A judge has halted the auction of Graceland by a company that claimed Elvis Presley's estate failed to repay a loan that used the property as collateral. Shelby County Chancellor JoeDae Jenkins issued a temporary injunction against the proposed auction during a hearing Wednesday. A subsequent statement emailed from someone who appeared to represent the company said it would drop its claim. The Presley estate has argued the claim is fraudulent. Online court records did not immediately show any legal filings suggesting the claim had been dropped. A public notice for a foreclosure sale of the estate posted earlier this month said the trust that controls Graceland owes $3.8 million for a 2018 loan.

Elvis Presley’s estate is fighting what it says is a fraudulent scheme to auction off Graceland to the highest bidder. An auction had been scheduled for this Thursday. But court documents show a Memphis judge blocked it after Presley’s granddaughter Riley Keough sought a temporary restraining order and filed a lawsuit. A public notice for a foreclosure sale of the estate in Memphis said the trust that controls the Graceland museum owes $3.8 million after failing to repay a 2018 loan. Keough's lawsuit alleges that Naussany presented fraudulent documents regarding the loan.

Tennessee officials updated the state’s death toll to 14 at midweek after more than 9 inches of snow fell since Sunday in parts of Nashville, where only about half that amount falls annually. Freezing rain began falling Thursday in Tennessee. In Portland, Oregon, on Wednesday, a power line fell on a parked car, killing three people and injuring a baby during an ice storm. Even with warmer temperatures and rain there Thursday, forecasters warned more freezing rain and gusting winds were possible.
