A Portsmouth man will serve 15 years in prison in connection to the shooting death of a 17-year-old and severe injuries to another in March 2020.

Marque Mills was found guilty of second-degree murder, malicious wounding and use of a firearm in commission of a felony for the shooting. A judge ordered his sentence Monday. Mills will also have 10 years of probation after serving time in prison.

Mills met with the two 17-year-olds on March 1, 2020, in the 1000 block of Cherokee Road to sell vape cartridges, and according to the Portsmouth commonwealth’s attorney’s office, Mills “ultimately shot both victims and fled the scene.” One 17-year-old died at the scene, and the other teen sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
