- Chicken Salad Chick opened its newest location in Norfolk on Dec. 5. The restaurant is located at 1200 W. 26th St.
- The Walkabout Outfitter, a store specializing in outdoor clothing and equipment, will hold a grand opening the weekend of Dec. 8 in the Craft House on Duke of Gloucester Street in Merchants Square in Williamsburg.
- The first Publix location in South Hampton Roads is opening Dec. 13. It will be located at 3189 Godwin Blvd. in the Planters Station development in Suffolk.
- Sorella’s Italian Eatery will open at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront at 356 Laskin Road on Dec. 21, according to a press release.

- The Lego Store at Virginia Beach Town Center opened Nov. 3 at 172 Central Park Ave.
- ZEats!, formerly known as Zoup! Eatery, held a grand opening Nov. 3 at 4316 Monarch Way in Norfolk.
- The Downtown Eatery & Deli opened Nov. 3 at 425 High St. in Portsmouth.
- Three new small businesses opened Nov. 3 in downtown Norfolk’s Selden Market: Amale Tre Focacceria, an eatery featuring fresh baked focaccia sandwiches and other delicacies; CLTRE. Vgn Jnt, a breakfast and lunch café focused on plant-based food and drink; and LNK, an immersive boutique with workshops and unique vintage finds.
- Pittie Dog Grill had their grand opening at the beginning of November. Specializing in char-grilled hot dogs, the business is located at 4140 Granby St. in Norfolk.
- Saté Kitchen, from Chef Kyle Fowlkes and his award-winning food truck, opened in November and features food that has an Asian and Southern flair to it. The restaurant is located at 694 Town Center Drive in Newport News’ City Center.
- Virginia Department of Veterans Services hosted a grand opening of Jones & Cabacoy Veterans Care Center at 2641 Nimmo Parkway in Virginia Beach on Nov. 10, according to a press release.
- Yard House, known for its expansive bar, opened in the Rivers Casino Portsmouth at 3630 Victory Blvd. on Nov. 12, according to a press release.
- Coffee shop 54 Beans had a grand reopening on Nov. 12. The shop is located at 13478 Carrollton Blvd. N in Carrollton.
- Korean fried chicken chain CM Chicken, with locations in Virginia Beach and Hampton, opened its downtown Norfolk location on Nov. 14 in the former Scotty Quixx spot.
- Hackers at Hilltop, a restaurant featuring golf simulator rooms, held a grand opening Nov. 19 in Virginia Beach, according to their Instagram page. It is located at 1532 Laskin Road.
- THRIVE Peninsula — a nonprofit that provides bill assistance, financial coaching and a food pantry — opened its new headquarters at 12749 Nettles Drive in Newport News at the end of November. A free grocery store is inside.
- Warby Parker, which offers eyeglasses, sunglasses, contact lenses and eye exams, opened in Lynnhaven Mall in Virginia Beach on Nov. 25, according to a press release.
- A new no-kill animal shelter and dog run, Reba’s Rescue, opened in Chesapeake. It opened Nov. 27 at 1646 S. Military Highway.
- QDOBA Mexican Eats opened at 1123 W. Mercury Blvd. in Hampton at the end of November.

- Breakfast and lunch restaurant, Butler’s Restaurant, opened at 6001 Holland Road in Suffolk.
- Colonial Iron Gym opened at 801-B Merrimac Trail in Williamsburg.
- Danny’s Downtown Dogs held a grand opening on Oct. 9 at 165 N. Main Street in Suffolk.
- HydroKleen, a new division of HVAC company AC Masters, began operations this month. They are based out of Yorktown, at 314-C Old York-Hampton Highway.
- Studio I Do Bridals expanded and moved to a new Little Neck Commons building at 3217 Virginia Beach Blvd.
- Jessys Taqueria & Pizza Bar had its grand opening on Oct. 12 at 3229 Virginia Beach Blvd.
- Dollar General opened a new store at 15490 Warwick Blvd. in Newport News on Oct. 16, according to a release.
- Amaro Italian Bistro and Cocktails opened in the former Tucanos Brazilian Grill spot in Newport News’ City Center.
- CenterWell Senior Primary Care celebrated the grand opening of its first center in Virginia at 1501 Sentinel Drive, Suite 407, in Chesapeake on Oct. 25, according to a press release.
- Bird Girl Bottle Shop opened in Newport News’ historic Hilton Village on Oct. 26. The shop at 100 Hopkins St. offers pizza, craft beer and Virginia wines.
- Crumbl Cookies opened at 12080 Jefferson Ave. in Newport News on Oc.t. 27.
- Cinema Cafe movie theater in Hampton’s Riverdale neighborhood closed after 18 years on Oct. 30.

- Pangaea Coffee Emporium held a grand opening on Sept. 1 at 200 Fountains Lane, Suite A, in Poquoson.
- The Colonial Williamsburg Bookstore opened Sept. 1. The bookstore is located on the southwest corner of Merchants Square on the second floor of the building that houses J. McLaughlin at 440 West Duke of Gloucester Street, according to a press release.
- Turn the Page Bookshop, Greater Williamsburg’s only independent bookstore, opened Sept. 1 at Premium Outlets on Richmond Road in James City County.
- Dillard’s, the last anchor store in Norfolk’s MacArthur Center, closed Sept. 4.
- The Historic Boxwood Inn recently reopened in Newport News’ Lee Hall area. It’s located at 10 Elmhurst St.
- Paddle On of Williamsburg permanently closed.
- Mediterranean restaurant Meyhane Kitchen & Bar in Williamsburg Crossing closed on Sept. 6 for a remodel.
- Wings Go opened on Sept. 7 at 3501 Holland Road in Virginia Beach.
- Dominion Dogs opened its first brick and mortar establishment in Williamsburg’s Edge District Sept. 9. The restaurant is located at 701-K Merrimac Trail in the James-York Plaza.
- TowneBank Tower held a grand opening for its offices in downtown Norfolk on Sept. 14.
- Get Lost Shave Ice opened at 510 Virginia Beach Blvd.

- Snakes & Lattes recently acquired Roll With It Cafe, a board game cafe and bar in Virginia Beach, according to a Facebook post.
- Privilege, a restaurant with handcrafted cocktails, music and hookah service, held a grand opening Aug. 4. It’s located at 600 Court Street in Portsmouth.
- Yendidi, a restaurant offering authentic African cuisine, opened in Virginia Beach on Aug. 4. It’s located at 4878 Princess Anne Road.
- 7 Brew Coffee, a drive-thru coffee stand concept, opened its first Virginia location in Newport News on July 26. The shop is located at 5018 W. Mercury Blvd. It will have a grand opening on Aug. 5.
- Chesapeake Bank opened a new loan production office in City Center at Oyster Point in Newport News on Aug. 7.
- Got Fish? Seafood closed, according to a Facebook announcement posted by the restaurant on Aug. 9. It had locations in Chesapeake and Hampton.
- Firestone Complete Auto Care opened at 1251 Wonsan St. in Norfolk on Aug. 10, according to a press release.
- Cannabist Suffolk, located at 1238 Holland Road, Suite 111, celebrated a grand opening on Aug. 10.
- Cuban restaurant The Lab Bistro Co. opened at 3972 Holland Road, Suite 108, in Virginia Beach.
- Mr. Shawarma held a grand opening on Aug. 13 of its new restaurant at 1965 Laskin Road in Virginia Beach.
- Ally Urgent Veterinary Care will open at Pembroke Manor House in Virginia Beach in mid-August.
- The Mad Batter, a bakery offering hand-dipped ice cream, freeze dried candy and more, held a grand reopening on Aug. 15. It’s located at 149 N Main St. in Suffolk.
- Palmeraie, a Moroccan restaurant, opened at 3316 Atlantic Ave. in Virginia Beach.
- Kitchenfinity held a grand opening on Aug. 23. The restaurant is located at 9500 Fechteler Road in Norfolk.

- Afterglow Brewing held a grand opening on July 8. It’s located at 2330 Bowdens Ferry Road, Suite 600, in Norfolk.
- IV Nutrition opened in Suffolk on July 14, according to a press release. It’s located at 1301 Bridgeport Way, Suite 110.
- Crumbl Cookies opened July 14 at 1412 Greenbrier Parkway, Suite 112, in Chesapeake.

- O’Connor Brewing closed its Norfolk taproom and brewing facility on July 23.
- Planet Fitness opened at 5137 Main St. in Williamsburg.
- Tidewater Physicians Multispecialty Group held a grand opening of its medical hub in Virginia Beach’s Town Center. The Southside medical hub consists of more than 10 offices, according to a press release.

Onelife Fitness plans to hold a grand opening in Hampton’s Coliseum Marketplace in the winter.
- Coastal Fermentory plans to open a second location in Newport News within the next 6-9 months, according to a July press release. The second brewery will be located at 12515 Jefferson Ave., Suites 100A-300A, in the Jefferson Marketplace.
- Longtime William & Mary clothing shop, the Campus Shop, is relocating to Duke of Gloucester Street in Merchants Square. The store will open in the same building as Lululemon, at 345 Duke of Gloucester St., and is expected to open in March.
- Aslin Beer Co. will open in March at 823 Virginia Beach Blvd., a block east of the sports center.
- Chef’s Market, which will offer different retail stations including a butcher shop, fish market, cheese shop and bakery is set to open in the former Good Vibes location in Newport News’ City Center in early 2024.
- I Heart Mac & Cheese, a South Florida-based restaurant specializing in customizable, made-to-order macaroni and cheese bowls and grilled cheese sandwiches, will open its first Hampton Roads location in Chesapeake in spring 2024, according to its website.
- New Realm Brewing plans to open a new brewery and restaurant in the new Blue Point at the Riverfront development in Suffolk in spring of 2024. The facility will include a covered rooftop patio, bar and beer garden with a dog-friendly outdoor bar, according to a release.
