NORFOLK — A man has died and two others were injured in a shooting Thursday evening in the Calvert Square neighborhood, police said.

Officers responded to the 900 block of Bagnall Road around 4:45 p.m. Several were already in the area investigating a shooting that happened the day prior, and just a short distance away from Thursday’s incident, a Norfolk police spokeswoman said.

The officers reported they heard about 10 gunshots and upon arrival, found three men with gunshot wounds. Police said one man was pronounced dead at the scene and the others were taken to the hospital.

One of the men is in critical condition, according to police.

Residents of Calvert Square gathered outside the crime scene tape on East Olney Road, and watched as dozens of officers worked the scene. Norfolk Police Chief Mark Talbot was among the officers there.

Wednesday’s shooting happened on East Olney Road. A woman was shot as she was trying to protect children after an altercation between two men resulted in gunfire, according to WAVY TV.

Norfolk police ask anyone with information about either shooting to submit a tip to http://p3tips.com/1126.
