The Jamestown-Scotland Ferry will remain under its summer schedule.
The Virginia Department of Transportation announced a reduced service earlier this week because of staffing shortages. On Friday, VDOT said the ferry will remain under the schedule that went into effect May 27 to accommodate the increase in ferry passengers during the summer travel season.
VDOT said the schedule would remain “as staffing and vessel resources allow.”
The free Jamestown-Scotland Ferry runs seven days a week, 365 days a year, across the James River between Jamestown and Surry. The trip takes about 20 minutes. For more information, including the schedule, visit JSFerry.org.
VDOT is still trying fill vacancies for the ferry, including the chief engineer position. For more information on available positions and to apply, visit VDOT’s careers page online at shorturl.at/xlSun.
