UPDATED:

James City County curbside recycling customers will see an increase in the price of service from $7 per month to $10.50 per month beginning with the August bill.

The change is due to increased administrative and contract costs for curbside recycling. To make the service self-supporting, a fee increase is needed. This is the first time the fee has increased since the program began in 2019.

According to the county, the recycling industry has been affected by labor problems; fuel price increases; vehicle/equipment purchase and maintenance price increases; prolonged delays in receiving parts; contamination by non-recyclables; and a rise in the price of processing recyclables.
