WILLIAMSBURG —The Williamsburg Contemporary Art Center’s summer Members’ Co-op Show opens on Wednesday and runs through Sept. 6.
The show — in the main and middle galleries — will feature the work of 13 artists and artisans showing off multiple painting mediums, photography, fiber art, mixed media, collage and more.
“Co-op shows offer our member artists the opportunity to exhibit multiple works in their own designated spaces,” Janis Wood, WCAC president, said in a news release. “This gives our visitors an opportunity to get a better feel for the style and capabilities of each participating artist. If an artist’s body of work evokes an emotional response in the viewer, it’s likely to be a good fit in the home.”
The artists also work at the center and hold demos during the run of the show, Wood said.
Running concurrently in the Fireside Gallery will be the annual “Camera to Brush and Beyond” exhibit, “where artists and artisans interpret in their own mediums and styles photographs submitted by member photographers,” the release said. Both the original photograph and its interpretation are hung side-by-side at the exhibit.
Next to the Fireside Gallery, the Artisan Corner features new works in fiber art, jewelry, ceramics and other unique 3D artwork. WCAC, located at 110 Westover Ave., is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
WCAC is also accepting artwork for its regional juried show, which runs Sept. 18 through Nov. 1. WCAC members and artists in the Hampton Roads and Richmond areas are invited to submit up to three original works. Entries will be processed through EntryThingy.com, including applications, image files and payment, and are due by July 26.
Artworks completed on or after Jan. 1, 2021, that have not been previously shown at WCAC are eligible for entry. All media, styles, techniques and original family-friendly subject matter are eligible.
