Naro Expanded Cinema’s summer series, “Mal’s Movies,” begins Monday and includes classics that would make the late critic proud.
Mal Vincent, who worked for decades for The Virginian-Pilot and later the Daily Press, died in 2021 at age 83. For nearly two decades, he hosted the series at the Naro and entertained sold-out crowds with his stories of meeting many of the stars. The movies in this year’s cycle are Mal’s favorites pulled from previous rotations or films he planned to share, organizers said in a news release.
“No one can fill his shoes, but we’ll do our best to do justice to his memory and to the movies he adored,” the release stated.
Below is the schedule with friends and colleagues of Mal continuing the talks. The films are shown Mondays at 7 p.m. when hosts start their introductions and the following Tuesdays at 1 p.m., but without the hosts.
